Meet the founder

I moved my own parents to Charlotte. Then I learned what I wish I'd known sooner.

Hi, I'm Nate Pieprzyk. I help Charlotte families care for aging parents at home — because I lived it with my own parents, and I know how much you can miss when you're not there every day.

Nate's story

It started the way it starts for so many families here.

My wife and I moved to Charlotte in 2010, like so many people do — for the opportunity, the pace, the feeling that this was a place you could build a life. It worked. We put down roots. And a few years in, we did what a lot of transplants eventually do: in 2014, we moved my parents down from up north so they could be closer to us.

Even living nearby, life stayed busy — work, our own home, the day-to-day. We saw my parents, but not as often as I'd pictured when they first moved down. From the outside, everything seemed fine. And when you're only catching glimpses, fine is easy to believe.

When my mom passed away in 2023, I looked back — and started learning things I hadn't known. There had been falls. Close calls. Small declines that had been building for a while. From a distance, I'd missed them — because I simply wasn't there to see them.

That's why I do this. I became a Certified Dementia Practitioner and built 2nd Family Charlotte for one reason: so that other families — especially the ones who, like me, moved their parents here but can't be there every day — have someone who can. Someone who notices the falls, the missed medications, and the small changes before they turn into a crisis.

I'm not a hospital system. I'm your neighbor, who has sat where you're sitting. When you reach out, you get a real conversation with someone who understands what your family is going through.
